This lithograph, published by the American Artists Association, presents Nichols’s iconic Midwestern imagery outside of his traditional barnyard paintings. The temple-like grain elevator shines in bright sunlight, standing tall and firm in a sea of farm fields. The horse drawn sleigh and its driver all seem to subtly bow, if not from the bright sun, possibly in reverence toward this final stop in the farmer’s annual harvest.
