Economic Discussion was the first lithograph produced by the Associated American Artists (AAA) by renowned regionalist artist John de Martelly in 1939.
De Martelly first came to the AAA attention after his mentor and friend, Thomas Hart Benton, recommended his work to the group. Over the course of 10 years de Martelly had 7 lithographs published with the AAA.
His lithographs are stunning examples of the unique “regionalist” style that developed in the Midwest throughout the 20th century. Accordingly, de Martelly’s lithographs are in numerous notable collections.
