Beneath the shade of an old tree, bee boxes wait patiently in a sunny field. Despite the flurry of motion presumed to be occurring within the bee boxes, the piece itself has a still, almost cemeterial mood. The wind-bent grasses allow viewers to envision a slight breeze, and the hazy nature of the trees in the distance creates a feeling of solitude, enhanced, perhaps, by the prominent shadow the principle tree casts, reaching out of the frame and toward onlookers.
