This rural cabin scene is indicative of Byxbe’s lifelong fascination with both the landscape of the Rocky Mountains and the concept of home. In each piece, the cabin appears nestled into its environment, a small haven amidst the looming trees and mountains in the background. While the porch posts may be crooked and precarious and the pathways winding, the sturdy, placid cabin itself invites the viewer in and reflects Byxbe’s devotion to the homeplace.
