Stephen Dinsmore (American, 1952- )
With an early love of Abstraction and a dream of being a full-time artist, Stephen Dinsmore has honed the ability to capture the ordinarily over-looked scenes and moments of everyday life within his artwork. From the view of an office at night to still life moments of flowers and tools, his artistic blend of impressionism, abstraction and even expressionism provides viewers with an essence of place, familiar yet uniquely seen through his eye.
Recently Dinsmore has expanded his painting to include a variety of surfaces other than canvas. They include cigar boxes, turpentine cans and even a bathroom vanity mirror. Combining these found objects with his personal style of impressionism, he deepens the story of his work to not only show viewers the essence of his vision but share it through objects ordinarily not associated with artwork, completely changing the in intent and meaning of the object itself.
Dinsmore’s work has been shown in galleries across the United States and has works held in the permanent collections of the Sioux City Art Center, Museum of Nebraska Art, and the Sheldon Art Gallery just to name a few.
